 House of Dolls'

Ragdoll Information Guide

About the Ragdoll Breed

Ragdolls are known for their gentle nature, striking blue eyes, and soft, plush coats. As a breed, they are famously relaxed and loving, earning their name from their tendency to flop comfortably in your arms and sprawl out on your floor.

At House of Dolls, we raise kittens who are socialized daily and accustomed to homes with dogs, and everyday household activities.

Ragdolls & Dogs

Ragdolls are one of the most dog-friendly cat breeds.

They typically:

Bond well with calm, respectful dogs.

Enjoy following canine family members around the home.

Engage in gentle, playful interactions.

Adjust quickly when properly introduced.

Our kittens are raised around a large, playful, in-your-face dog, so they arrive already familiar with canine friends, making transitions to multi-pet homes much smoother.

Dietary Needs

To support slow, healthy growth and a long life, Ragdolls benefit from high-quality nutrition.

Feeding Recommendations:

Premium, high-protein kitten food for their first year

Avoid low-quality foods with corn, wheat, or soy fillers.

Provide a mix of wet and dry food.

Fresh water is always available (a fountain is ideal)

Monitor portions to prevent overeating.

Monthly food cost estimate:

Dry food: $20–$45

Wet food: $35–$80

Treats/supplements (optional): $5–$20

Veterinary & Health Needs

Ragdolls are generally healthy, especially when responsibly bred and fully vetted.

Routine care includes:

Yearly wellness exams

Up-to-date vaccinations

Regular deworming

Parasite prevention depends on the environment.

Breed considerations:

Heart health monitoring (HCM can occur in the breed)

Kidney screening as they age

Weight management due to their love of food and calm nature

At House of Dolls, our kittens are fully vetted and receive care through VCA Winslow Animal Hospital before going home.

Grooming Needs

Ragdolls have semi-long to long, silky coats that are surprisingly easy to maintain.

Grooming basics:

Brush 2–3 times weekly

Nail trim every 2–3 weeks

Check and clean ears when needed.

Use dental treats or brushing for oral care.

Occasional baths if coat becomes oily (not usually necessary)

Consistent grooming helps keep their coat beautiful and reduces shedding around the home.

Life With a Ragdoll

A Ragdoll from House of Dolls is more than a pet. They become part of the family!

Expect a companion who:

Follows you from room to room

Loves being held, cuddled, and talked to

Gets along wonderfully with kids and dogs

Prefers calm, cozy environments

Lives an average of 12–17+ years

They bring softness, affection, and charm into any home lucky enough to welcome one.
